Volunteers Needed in Rochester

I received this email from Kevin and Kristine (Hedberg) White. If you live in or around Rochester, they could really use your help. Send me photos from the event and I will post them on the blog.

Hello Everyone,

As most of you know Kristina and I are the Volunteer Coordinators for the American Diabetes Associations Tour de Cure. This is our 2nd year in this role and we are looking for some help. The Tour is only a month away (June 8) and we are short some volunteers and are calling on our friends and family to volunteer and come join us at Mendon Ponds Park. Here is what is in it for you - Lunch from your choice of either Panera Bread or Outback Steakhouse, a wine tent, a free t-shirt, live music, and a day of being in the sun for a good cause!

In America, 20.8 million people suffer from diabetes, it can complicate pregnancy, lead to heart disease and stroke, cause blindness and in some cases lead to amputation. Last years event raised over $400,000, we placed in the top 5 nationwide in fundraising and this year we are looking to be bigger, but we need your help to do that. We need everything from setting up on Saturday, to rider registration, cheerleaders, food distribution, return rider check in and much more. The event is June 8th, a Sunday, and if you have an hour or four, send me an e-mail and I'll tell you what positions we need help in.
Thank you,

Support the Special Olympics!

Here is an email I received from Adam Cormack. Please consider sponsoring him!

From Adam:

Hello All,

As some of you may or may not know, I am participating in the 2008 Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraiser for the Special Olympics that involves lots of people, my beautiful wife and myself included, going for a swim in the freezing cold waters of Lake Ontario. I will be jumping in to Lake Ontario on February 10,
2008. They will be breaking through the ice for all of the people to
run in and have a nice swim. I am trying to raise as much money as
possible and any assistance you could provide would be greatly
appreciated. No amount is too small and every penny helps. If you would
like to sponsor me for this event, there is a website set up that is
totally secure and is very easy to use. It also has a picture of Megan
and I from last years plunge. I have included a link to that page
below...

If anyone is going to be in the Rochester area and wants to come see this
crazy event, it is Sunday February 10, 2008 at noon at the Charlotte
Community Center, which is right by the pier or where the Fast Ferry
used to be... Please pass this along to anyone you think might want to
participate in the Polar Plunge or would want to contribute. I tried to
send this out before, but I am not sure who received it as I had a
small CPU issue. If you are getting this a second time, sorry...

Thanks and all the best!

Adam
